University Email

Set Up Your University Email

All students are required to use their American University email accounts. Do not wait to activate your American University email — all communication and updates from the University will be sent to this address, including your financial aid notifications. 

Check your American University email daily for messages about registration, news, events and updates or announcements from faculty.

Activate Your University Email

Your university email is automatically created once you create your MyAU account and complete your enrollment. Please see the steps below to create your account: 

Create Your MyAU Account on the MyAU web portal. Go to https://myau.american.edu

  • Click on “Create your account” near the end of the page and select “Students.”   
  • Once you have read through the instructions, click on “Create Student Account.”   
  • Enter your AU ID (located on your offer of admission letter or reply form), first name, last name and date of birth. 
  • Enter an initial password for the system to create your account. Write down your username and password.
